Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Prime Video announced it will invest more than $2 billion in Latin America between 2027 and 2030 to expand its original content production, acquire local productions and strengthen its sports broadcasting rights in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile.

Amazon's streaming platform unveiled the plan during Prime Video Presents Latin America, its first regional event, held in Mexico City, the company said.

Prime Video said the investment will allow it to more than double the number of Latin American original productions by 2030 compared with 2026. The company plans to release more than 25 new titles in 2027, including scripted series, films, reality shows and unscripted productions.

"What is happening in Latin America right now is extraordinary: the talent, the stories and the audiences," said Kelly Day, vice president of international at Prime Video.
