He claimed negotiations had hit a major problem because Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn and his team wanted more money.“Quick update for you. It doesn’t look like they are going to sign the fight and it doesn’t look like it is going to happen all because [Joshua’s promoter] Eddie Hearn and that want more money,” Fury said in a video. The comments have put more attention on the financial side of the negotiations. Fury also took aim at Hearn and Joshua over their previous business deals with Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh.“They have already had that much money off Turki (Alalshikh) over the last few years Eddie and AJ, they have had boxing deals, they have had darts deals, they have had snooker deals, they have had everything. And yet, they have got the audacity and cheek of flea-bitten rats to ask for more money from old Turki that you have had combined over the last couple of years. Keep on running you cowards”, he said.Fury’s comments come at a crucial stage in the negotiations. The proposed fight has been targeted for November 20. Madison Square Garden is reportedly the main venue being discussed. The fight has been talked about for years. Both fighters have held world heavyweight titles and have been at the top of the division for much of their careers.Joshua and Fury have also faced several failed attempts to meet in the ring. A fight between them would be one of the biggest British heavyweight contests of the modern era.Despite Fury’s latest comments, there are signs that the fight is still being worked on. As per reports Joshua has signed a contract. Matchroom is also continuing to work towards an announcement. That means Fury’s social media comments do not necessarily mean the fight is officially cancelled. Negotiations over major boxing events can involve several financial and contractual issues before everything is finalised. The choice of New York would also give the fight a major international stage. Madison Square Garden has a long history of hosting major boxing events. The biggest issue appears to be money. Fury believes Joshua’s side is asking for more. Joshua’s team, meanwhile, is reportedly still working towards completing the deal.Until the final contracts and announcement are confirmed, the long-awaited Fury vs Joshua fight remains uncertain.
