The new scheme – called Home Club – is aimed at drivers living in single-family homes across Canada. In exchange for a refundable CA$299 deposit, members receive a Hypercharge Home Level 2 charger, with the company also providing installation support through its partner network. In short, Home Club combines charging hardware, installation support and a rewards programme into a single offering.
Through the scheme, participants earn CA$0.03 per kWh for their first eligible home charging session. The reward rate then increases to CA$0.11 p/kWh once the charger has recorded 1500 kWh of eligible charging. The initial CA$299 deposit is refunded thereafter. A time-limited promotion means that existing Hypercharge Network customers who join Home Club on the same email address can receive a free $10 credit towards ‘eligible’ public and multi-family charging.
According to Hypercharge, the scheme “is supported by the value generated from residential EV charging under Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations, which helps turn home charging activity into rewards for participating drivers”. The launch comes as Canada continues to expand its support for charging infrastructure. Earlier this year, the federal government announced more than $97 million in funding for 155 clean transportation projects across the country, the bulk of which is being directed towards EV charging.
