Cochin International Airport Limited has added scheduled freighter connectivity to Sharjah with the commencement of IndiGo CarGo’s dedicated cargo service from Kochi, providing an additional air freight link between Kerala and the Gulf region.The Airbus A321 freighter operated by IndiGo CarGo is now serving the Kochi–Sharjah sector, providing dedicated cargo connectivity between the two destinations. The service will initially operate once a week and is planned to be scaled up to three flights a week, providing increased freighter capacity and greater scheduling flexibility for cargo movement between Kerala and the Gulf region.Better access for exportersThe scheduled service is expected to facilitate the movement of commercial and time-sensitive consignments from Kerala to the UAE, while providing exporters with improved access to Sharjah and onward connectivity to markets across the Gulf and the wider Middle East.Boost to Kochi’s logistics hub ambitionsThe commencement of IndiGo CarGo’s scheduled freighter service between Kochi and Sharjah will further strengthen CIAL’s cargo network. Such international cargo connectivity will provide further impetus to the Kerala Government’s efforts to develop Kochi as a major logistics hub. The new service will create greater opportunities for exporters and industries in Kerala to move their cargo to the Gulf markets,” said S.
