India is blessed with abundant mineral resources that must be utilised in a responsible manner, B. Venkatraman, former director, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam, said in Tiruchi on Friday.Addressing the inaugural function of the ‘Science Carnival 2026’ organised by National College, Mr. Venkatraman urged people not to be unnecessarily afraid of radiation, pointing out that nuclear energy and science are powerful forces for constructive development. He encouraged students to pursue science with enthusiasm and strive to achieve greater accomplishments in the field.T.K. Lilly Grace, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing, Tiruchi, spoke about the need for awareness regarding economic crimes. People could easily become victims of such offences. She emphasised that people should recognise, appreciate, and make the best use of the many benefits that science offered.The two-day fair is being held in association with Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana, Bharathidasan Institute of Management and Propeller Technologies, and features a variety of science-related competitions and activities for school students.Rotarian K.
