Nvidia is planning to pour several hundred million dollars into Cloverleaf Infrastructure, the Wall Street Journal reported, marking another significant bet by the AI chip titan on the physical power systems needed to keep its hardware running.
What we know about the deal
The WSJ report puts the investment at “several hundred million dollars.” The precise terms and structure of the deal were not disclosed.
Cloverleaf Infrastructure was founded in February 2024 by veterans of the energy sector. The company targets projects with 10 to 15 gigawatts of peak power capacity across sites in Wisconsin and Georgia.
In July 2024, Cloverleaf raised approximately $300 million in a funding round led by private equity firms Sandbrook Capital and NGP Energy Capital Management, with each firm contributing about $150 million.
