ACOG recommends bilateral salpingectomy for ovarian cancer prevention

ACOG strengthened its recommendation that OB/GYNs perform salpingectomy during hysterectomy and other surgeries to lower the risk for ovarian cancer.The latest guidance highlights evidence supporting the removal of both fallopian tubes “as a safe and effective method of reducing patients’ lifetime risk of ovarian cancer,” an ACOG press release said.
