Real Betis has confirmed the signing of Troy Parrott from AZ Alkmaar, bringing the 24-year-old Irish forward to La Liga on a five-year contract. The deal is reportedly worth approximately €20 million, split between a €16 million fixed fee and €4 million in performance-related add-ons.
From Dublin to Seville, via the Netherlands
Parrott, born in Dublin on 4 February 2002, first gained attention as a teenager at Tottenham Hotspur, where he was seen as one of the more promising young strikers in the club’s academy. A string of loan moves followed before his move to AZ Alkmaar in July 2024 proved to be the inflection point. He scored double-digit goals across recent Eredivisie seasons, establishing himself as one of the league’s more dangerous forwards and catching the eye of clubs across Europe. Several Premier League teams were reportedly monitoring the situation before Betis moved decisively.

Real Betis, managed by Manuel Pellegrini, has been actively looking to bolster its attacking options during the summer 2026 transfer window. Parrott fits that recruitment template almost perfectly: young enough to have significant upside and resale value, proven enough to contribute immediately, and available at a price point that doesn’t require Betis to mortgage its future.
