Loose forward Jarod Cairns will once again captain the Lions in Friday's crunch Currie Cup encounter against the Sharks XV.

The Lions have named an all-new front row for Friday afternoon’s must-win Currie Cup clash against the Sharks XV at Woodburn Stadium in Pietermaritzburg (7.15pm kickoff).

Head coach Mziwakhe Nkosi has made several changes to his starting XV, with Juan Schoeman, Armand Combrinck and Conraad van Vuuren coming into the front row at loosehead, hooker and tighthead respectively.

Siba Qoma moves into the second row alongside JD Hattingh, while scrumhalf Zian Cilliers and wing Latica Nela return to the starting line-up.

Jarod Cairns will captain the side from openside flank, with Renzo du Plessis at No 8 and Thando Biyela at blindside flank.
