Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in Coimbatore district have extended the last date for direct admissions for the unfilled seats for the 2026-27 session till August 31. Applicants have been instructed to visit the District Skill Training Office, Coimbatore, or the ITIs for direct enrolment by submitting copies of their Class 8 and SSLC mark sheets, transfer certificate, community certificate, Aadhaar Card, and passport-size photographs.The candidates are being admitted into 30 trades, including mechanical, electrical, computer-related trades, apparel technology, drone pilot, industrial robotics, and electric vehicle technology.Candidates who have completed classes 8, 10, 11, or 12, as well as diploma and degree holders aged between 14 and 40 years, are eligible to apply. There is no upper age limit for women candidates, according to a press release.Direct admissions are currently in progress at Government ITI Coimbatore; Government ITI for Women, Coimbatore; and the Government ITIs at Anaikatti, Valparai, and Perur.The candidates, upon admission, will be entitled to free laptops, bicycles, uniforms, textbooks, drawing instruments, footwear, and bus passes.A monthly stipend of ₹750 will also be provided. In addition, students who studied in Tamil medium from Classes 6 to 10 in government and government-aided schools will receive ₹1,000 per month under the Pudhumai Penn and Tamil Pudhalvan schemes, the press release said.The training would be given for free, and students completing the courses will be provided with 100% placement assistance, the release said.In Tiruppur district, direct admissions are in progress till August 31 at the government ITIs in Tiruppur, Dharapuram, Kangeyam, and Udumalpet for various engineering trades, including electrician; fitter; machinist; turner; wireman; welder; tool and die maker; mechanic motor vehicle; electronic mechanic; foundryman; and interior design and decoration. Non-engineering trades include computer operator; garment making; sewing technology; and architectural draftsmanship.Admissions are also open for newly introduced Industry 4.0 trades equipped with advanced technologies.Placement opportunities will be arranged in Central departments, State departments, and leading industrial establishments, another press release said.
