The United Kingdom, UK has warned travelers to Nigeria that their travel insurance could be invalidated if they travel to areas against which the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has issued travel warnings.
The latest FCDO travel advice for Nigeria, updated on August 20, 2026, categorises several states as areas where the UK advises against all travel or all but essential travel.
The FCDO said travellers should research their destinations and obtain appropriate travel insurance that covers their itinerary, planned activities and emergency expenses.
