A woman doctor was arrested and her hospital was sealed after she allegedly revealed the sex of the foetus for money in Salem on Wednesday evening (August 19, 2026).Acting on a tip-off, Health officials raided a private hospital at Vazhapadi and found that a doctor, namely Selvambal Rajkumar (57), who allegedly received ₹30,000 and revealed the foetus' sex after scanning a pregnant woman.Following this, the officials seized the ultrasound machine, medicine and ₹30,000 and sealed the hospital. Based on a complaint lodged by the Health officials, the Vazhapadi police registered a case and arrested the doctor and remanded her in prison.
