Sergeant Palesa Tsoaelo, a 44-year-old SAPS detective attached to the Serial and Electronic Crime Investigation team in Mpumalanga, has helped secure 20 life sentences and a further 75 years’ imprisonment for 31 convicted sexual offenders.
Mpumalanga police detective Sergeant Palesa Tsoaelo has helped secure 20 life sentences and a further 75 years’ imprisonment for 31 convicted sexual offenders - an achievement SAPS is highlighting this Women’s Month as it celebrates women working on the front lines of the fight against gender-based violence.
The 44-year-old detective is attached to the Serial and Electronic Crime Investigation (SECI) team in Mpumalanga, where she investigates serial rape cases and sexual offences committed through electronic platforms.
SAPS says Tsoaelo’s work reflects the courage, resilience and professionalism of women in blue and forms part of its “Women Leading the Reset Agenda” campaign, which focuses on ethical leadership, accountability and restoring public confidence in the police.
Tsoaelo joined the police in 2007 as a constable at Greylingstad Police Station. While working at the Community Service Centre, attending to complaints and taking statements, she developed an interest in investigations.
