Propagandists doctored a video from social media
Pro-Russian accounts on X, Instagram and Telegram are circulating a video filmed at a railway station in Dnipro, where a large crowd of people can be seen in the station square. The posts claim that the crowd allegedly formed because documents were being checked. The video itself contains a caption stating that "people liable for military service are not eligible for civilian evacuation." According to the propagandists, the same announcement was allegedly broadcast over the station's public address system.
This is fake. The video was indeed filmed in Dnipro. It was posted on August 7 by a user of the Ukrainian segment of TikTok. The original video contains no caption saying that "people liable for military service are not eligible for evacuation." Instead, the station announcement informs passengers about significant train delays and the transfer of passengers to buses for onward travel to the nearest cities in the region.
On August 7, Russian attacks and damage to railway infrastructure caused significant train delays, leading to passengers having to wait for extended periods for their services. In particular, trains traveling to and from Dnipro through the Dnipropetrovsk region were operating with substantial deviations from the schedule.
