MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Erwin Tulfo on Thursday lamented the fatal school shootings in Tacloban City, Leyte, and more recently in Zamboanga City during a hearing of the Senate committee on women, children, family relations, and gender equality.

“Please talk to your children, talk to your child,” Tulfo appealed to parents.

“Malay mo hindi po siya bayolente, pero deep down inside, he or she wants to end his or her life. There’s so many instances. There’s many things like that, mga kabataan ngayon, they’re so fragile. It is because napababayaan po natin. We don’t communicate with them. Because we’re so busy (Maybe he or she isn’t violent, but deep down inside, he or she wants to end his or her life. There are so many instances like that. There are many things like that. Young people today are so fragile. It is because we neglect them. We don’t communicate with them. Because we’re so busy),” he added.
