Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State, last week, joined the 2026 World Sango Festival in Oyo, with official representation from the state government alongside a cultural troupe to participate in the annual celebration of the Yoruba deity at the historic Aafin Oyo.

The state participated in the festival through the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, which joined cultural groups, dignitaries and visitors from different parts of the world at the August 15 event.

The participation marked a public cultural link between Lagos and Oyo at a festival rooted in the history and spiritual traditions of the old Oyo civilisation.

The Lagos troupe performed at the festival, presenting music, dance and other elements of Lagos’ cultural heritage as part of the celebration.
