Reacting, Olajengbesi said he was writing “with a painful heart” because, according to him, Oke had chosen to use the pain of a bereaved family for political purposes.
The spokesperson for the Ademola Adeleke Governorship Campaign Council and Accord Party candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has accused a member of the House of Representatives, Oluwole Oke, of politicising the death of his nephew instead of showing concern for the bereaved family.
Olajengbesi, in a statement reacting to comments made by Oke, said the lawmaker had failed to demonstrate similar concern for other victims of violence in Osun State, including Ajayi Aderogba, an Accord Party member who was killed in Esa Oke, Oke’s hometown, and Timileyin Ola, whose mother is a prominent Accord Party member.
The statement came after Oke in a Facebook post that those responsible for the killing of his nephew were attempting to “walk on his grave” by sending emissaries to his widow with an offer of N10 million and scholarships for his children.
Oke wrote: “Those who killed my Nephew want to walk on his grave. They’re sending emissaries to his widow on behalf of themselves and Osun State Govt with 10m Naira offer and scholarship for his children. Funny characters. Playing politics with anything. Dele before his death was a success story in his own little way.”
