An interactive demonstration and talk on the ‘Fascinating World of Ants’ on the theme ‘Atomic Being, Awesome Energy’ will be presented by Entomology and Natural History Researcher S.J. Srinivasa at Indian Institute of Educational Theatre (IIET) in Mysuru on Sunday.The programme organised jointly by IIET and The Academy Trust will be held at 12 p.m. at IIET premises in Hardwicke School campus on Jhansi Lakshmi Bai Road, said a press statement.“Though ants are minute creatures, their intelligence and work efficiency are vast. The session will explore the everyday ants found in our surroundings and their fascinating ways of life, aiming to create environmental awareness among children,” the statement said.Giving a brief profile of S.J. Srinivasa, the statement said he specialises in the creation and maintenance of museum exhibits and science display models. Mr Srinivasa, who is an expert in painting, sculpture, handicrafts, and various art forms, as well as natural science, has dedicated himself to popularizing biological sciences after serving for over a decade at the Regional Museum of Natural History (RMNH), Mysuru.“His areas of special interest include entomology, botanical taxonomy, and earth sciences. One of his key aspirations is that scientific study should integrate the inherent wisdom found in forests, remote areas, and the rich repository of knowledge within tribal folk culture,” the statement said.He has directed various integrated art-and-science activities across schools and colleges—including the creation of scientific diagrams, biological models, specimen collection, designing “wall museums” and science exhibitions, and actively celebrating environment- and science-related days, according to the statement.Environmental enthusiasts, children, and parents can attend the event.
