The Indian Institute of Educational Theatre (IIET), in association with the Mysore English Theatre Forum (METF), will celebrate World Theatre Day 2026 on March 27 at 5.30 p.m. at the IIET premises in Hardwicke School campus on JLB Road here.

Observed worldwide, World Theatre Day highlights the importance of theatre as a medium of artistic expression and social reflection. This year’s programme features a special focus on American actor Willem Dafoe, whose World Theatre Day message will be presented during the event, according to a press release.

The evening will include a talk on Willem Dafoe by Prof. Krishna Prasad, followed by Kitty Mandana’s reading of the official message. A coordinated play reading led by Shashidhara Dongre will showcase collaborative theatre practice. Amit Reddy will deliver a special address on the relevance of theatre in today’s society.

Additionally, an English play reading coordinated by Nima Manjrekar will add to the programme’s diversity, the release added.
