Emergency salvage operation set for tugboat that ran aground in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — An emergency salvage operation will be conducted for a tugboat that ran aground off Botolan town in this province on Friday (Aug. 14), according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

“If the weather permits, we will proceed with the emergency salvage operation,” said Commander Euphraim Jayson Diciano, head of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Zambales in a phone interview.

Based on PCG reports, the tugboat Sual 1 owned by SMC Shipping and Lighterage Corp. had departed from the Bani Anchorage in Masinloc at around 6:15 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 13) to assist the lighter vessel Apo in delivering provisions and berthing operations in Barangay Bangan.
