An 80-year-old woman living in an apartment in T. Nagar was found murdered on Friday. Pondy Bazaar police detained her domestic help and two men in connection with the killing and recovered 12 sovereigns of gold jewellery from them.The deceased, identified as Radha, lived on the second floor of an apartment complex on Kuppusamy Street in T. Nagar. She had been staying alone since her husband’s death. According to the police, around 10 a.m., Radha’s domestic help, Ammu, 31, informed a neighbour that Radha did not respond despite repeated knocks on the door. The neighbour then contacted Ramji, her son residing in Besant Nagar, who rushed to the apartment. He found the main door locked and, after opening it, discovered his mother lying dead on the living room sofa with injuries to her face and neck. A pillow was found beside the body.The body was sent to the Government Hospital in K.K. Nagar for postmortem. Investigators found that food ordered by Radha on Thursday evening had been delivered around 6.30 pm. The CCTV camera installed inside the apartment was found to be non-functional. However, the police examined CCTV camera footage from a neighbouring building and spotted two unidentified men entering and leaving the area during the suspected time of the murder.During questioning, the police found that the domestic help had conspired with the two men to kill Radha and steal her jewellery.
