A 28-year-old woman was arrested and two juveniles were detained in connection with two burglary cases in R.K. Nagar. The police recovered 30.9 g of gold jewellery stolen from the houses.The cases were registered based on complaints from Tajnisha, 34, of Vinoba Nagar Main Road in Tondiarpet, and Abdullah, 45, of Karunanidhi Nagar.On July 26, Ms. Tajnisha found that 44 g of gold jewellery, silver articles, and ₹68,000 kept in a bureau at her house were missing. In the other case, Mr. Abdullah reported that 4.5 g of gold jewellery, including an earring, a coin and chain, was stolen from his house on August 6.The R.K. Nagar police investigated the cases and found that the same 17-year-old juvenile was allegedly involved in both thefts.During the investigation, the police arrested Desam, alias Desammal, 28, of Mullai Nagar in Pattabiram, who allegedly purchased the stolen jewellery from the juvenile, after claiming that she would sell it.The police recovered 27 g of gold jewellery allegedly stolen from Tajnisha’s house and 3.9 g from Abdullah’s house.Desammal, who already had a criminal case against her, was produced before a court on Sunday, and remanded in judicial custody.
