Global fuel supply chains are creaking as the war in the Middle East extends into its sixth month. Diplomatic efforts to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping are stalled, and Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis have also stepped up their attacks on Saudi Arabia’s oil infrastructure and shipping in the Red Sea. Saudi Aramco’s already closed Jazan refinery was struck again on Aug. 13, ahead of a planned Aug. 15 restart. It has now been out of action since Jul. 27.
