Medical students from across Greece are taking part in “Medical Landing 2026,” a volunteer training program marking its 30th year. Organized by the Scientific Society of Medical Students of Greece, the initiative places students for 10-day assignments in remote health units during the summer.
Fourth-year students Nikolaos Dokos and Olga Hatzidaki, both from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School, said they are eager to participate after hearing positive feedback from past volunteers.
Running from July 20 to September 7, the program includes five 10-day periods at about 70 destinations, mainly tourist and border regions. Participants must have completed at least one clinical year.
The program aims both to support healthcare staff during peak summer demand and to provide hands-on clinical training. This year, organizers selected 120 student pairs. Volunteers complete evaluations after returning and receive participation certificates.
