Salary growth is shifting towards poorer regions and unexpected professions as banking and automotive lose momentum.

Wages in Slovakia are growing surprisingly quickly in 2026 – at the fastest pace since the end of the pandemic. A closer look, however, reveals an uneven picture, with wage growth varying significantly across sectors and regions.

This analysis focuses primarily on advertised salaries listed in job postings on the portal Profesia.sk. Advertised salaries are only one part of a more complex reality. On the one hand, employers often state lower salaries for tactical and negotiation reasons than they are ultimately willing to offer a strong candidate. On the other, companies are increasingly recruiting for specialist and hard-to-fill positions, which tend to command premium pay.
