OpenAI’s chief financial officer Sarah Friar is conducting investor meetings today, a quiet but telling move for a company that has spent 2026 sprinting toward the public markets.
The meetings arrive at a moment when OpenAI’s financial story is getting genuinely hard to ignore. In late July, Friar disclosed that the company’s annualized recurring revenue for that single month surpassed the entirety of Q2.
The financial runway so far
OpenAI completed what remains the largest private funding round in history back in March 2026, raising between $120B and $122B at a valuation of $852B.
Then in June, the company quietly filed a confidential IPO registration with the SEC. That filing signaled the formal beginning of what could become one of the most anticipated public listings in tech history, though it also preserved the option to delay or adjust course depending on market conditions.
