Former police detective Gregory Loftus has told the Madlanga Commission that a R2.5 million hit was allegedly offered for the murder of his son, Bevan Loftus, in 2022.
Testifying before the commission on Thursday, Loftus painted a picture of his son's career in the tow-truck industry, claiming his son's death was a hit and linked to a rivalry in the tow-truck industry with accused competitor Clive Naiker being behind the alleged plot.
“Bevan was murdered by the police under the guise of a legitimate police operation and at the instance of Naicker, a competitor of Bevan in the tow-truck industry and an alleged drug dealer,” Loftus said.
Speaking exclusively to IOL following his son's death in 2023, Loftus maintained that there was no gunfight in the flat where his son was killed.
