The 2026-27 NBA season will start a new era of Milwaukee Bucks basketball.With Giannis Antetokounmpo now in Miami, the Bucks will look to play a different brand of basketball with a new coach (Taylor Jenkins) and a retooled roster. Some players remain from last season’s team, but combining them with the new players acquired in the Antetokounmpo trade and the team’s first two lottery picks in a decade should lead to an interesting and regularly changing product on the floor.Here are the three biggest takeaways from Milwaukee’s 2026-27 schedule:No longer in the national spotlightIn 2021-22, the season after they won the NBA title, the Bucks experienced their peak in national exposure, as 25 of their 82 regular-season games were broadcast on national television. From 2019-23, Milwaukee took the national stage between 22 and 25 times per season. But that spotlight started to dwindle over the last three seasons.The Bucks were on the NBA’s national TV schedule 19 times for the 2023-24 season. That number shrank to 17 games for the 2024-25 season and then dropped to 13 last season. Now, the Bucks have just two games on the national TV schedule. Both games are against Antetokounmpo’s new team, the Miami Heat, and that number is tied for the fewest national television appearances of any team in the NBA.A low number of nationally televised games is not a huge surprise, as the Bucks lost much of their star power by trading Antetokounmpo. But the number being this small probably speaks to the lower expectations for the team nationally and the franchise being in one of the NBA’s smallest markets.
