MSCI Inc yesterday raised Taiwan’s weightings in its key global indices, reflecting the robust performance of Taiwan-listed stocks and changes in their accessibility to foreign investors.Taiwan’s weighting in the MSCI All Country World Index is set to rise to 3.13 percent from 3.08 percent, while its weighting in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index is to increase to 26.85 percent from 26.6 percent.In the MSCI All Country Asia ex Japan Index, Taiwan’s weighting is set to climb to 30.03 percent from 29.75 percent.

The adjustments are to take effect after the market closes on Aug. 31, the global stock index compiler said in a statement.Memory makers Nanya Technology Corp (南亞科技) and Winbond Electronics Corp (華邦電子), along with Phison Electronics Corp (群聯電子), Kinsus Interconnect Technology Corp (景碩科技), Nan Ya Printed Circuit Board Corp (南亞電路板) and Taiwan Union Technology Corp (台燿科技), are to be moved from the MSCI Taiwan Small Cap Index to the MSCI Taiwan Index in the latest adjustments.
