The emotional words of a 9-year-old boy have been heard at Oxford Crown Court as he demanding answers from the couple who killed his father16:18, 13 Aug 2026Updated 16:56, 13 Aug 2026A nine-year-old boy demanded answers from his father's killers in court today, asking them "why did you have to kill my dad?"‌The emotional scenes played out in Oxford Crown Court where a Romanian couple were jailed for killing two married men after drugging them unconscious to steal cash and jewellery during sexual liaisons.‌Adina Mihai, 31, who posed as a sex worker, and her partner Madalin Dumitru, 30, have each been jailed for 17 years for arranging to meet men paying for sex at their homes before robbing them.‌The court heard four men were drugged when glasses of wine were spiked with the powerful sedative gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) so the two defendants could take money from them.Two of the victims, Malcolm King, 80, of Bagendon, Gloucestershire, and Gary Mouat, 36, of Banbury, Oxfordshire, died.‌In a victim impact statement, which was recorded and played to the court, Alfie Mouat said the defendants had ruined his life.He said: "My dad was funny, silly, loving and a trickster, we always used to prank each other."Why did you have to kill my dad, you could have just taken the money, he was really kind, he would have given it to you. He was my dad and now he’s gone.‌"Ever since my dad died my life has been really tough. I miss him every day and will never get to see him again. I will never be able to get another dad and that makes me feel so sad."You have ruined my life and all the plans we had to do things together. My family is destroyed now. I will never be able to go and watch a football game with my dad now."I won’t get to go have my first beer with him. I don’t know what my life will be like now, I always imagined my dad would be here.‌"My heart feels so empty, sometimes it hurts so much I feel like I have to reboot it. I feel sad every day and miss him all the time. I hope you realise how many hearts have been broken because of what you did."Alfie added: "After it happened I was so scared that something would happen to my mum, I didn’t want to let her out my sight.‌"I couldn’t sleep because I kept having nightmares that something bad happened to her too. I still have these now sometimes. I get scared someone will come to my house and hurt her too. Sometimes I don’t feel safe."I used to wake up in the night and think that my dad was still here and then realise he wasn't. I will never get over my dad being killed, I will never forget him and I will miss him for the rest of my life. I hope I make him proud."At a previous hearing, the pair, formerly of Ilford, Essex, pleaded guilty to two charges of manslaughter and administering poison to two other men, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.‌Jailing the pair, Mrs Justice Brunner said: "Your joint intention was to incapacitate each victim making them deeply unconscious.""The administration of the drug was haphazard and depended on the strength of each batch, the amount put into drinks, and the amount they drunk. This did not involve the administration of a fixed dose."I find that you were not aware of the deaths of any of your victims before administering the drugs to other victims. You intended to render your victims deeply unconscious.Article continues below"If you had stopped for a moment to consider the risks, as you should have done, you would have realised that it carried a high risk of serious injury or death at the very moment you administered that drug."If you had done the most cursory research, you would know that GBL can be extremely toxic. You both could and should have researched open sources."
