Fourteen pedestrians were arrested and taken to the Kempton Park Police Station for crossing an unsafe freeway on Thursday morning
They are facing charges relating to violations of the National Road Traffic Act and associated regulations prohibiting pedestrians from entering or crossing freeways on foot.
Between 6am and 10am, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) female Officers from Specialized Services units, conducted a pedestrian safety operation along the R21 and R23 freeways, in the Kempton Park area, as part of the Women’s Month programme.
They focused on pedestrians who were crossing or walking along the freeways in contravention of road traffic regulations.
