ISTANBUL, August 13. /TASS/. The Mecca Agreement on Joint Defense between Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan does not envision any single country as a common enemy – it is aimed at promoting regional security and stability, Turkish Defense Ministry official said.
"The goal is to create a more institutional and sustainable structure for the existing friendly and fraternal relations between our three countries in the field of defense and security. The main purpose of the agreement is to promote regional security and stability, develop military cooperation between our countries and strengthen our ability to work together against potential crises. This agreement is signed for defense purposes and does not define any countries as a common enemy or adversary," the official told reporters.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the Mecca Agreement on August 7. It says that an attack on one of the countries will be regarded as aggression against all parties to the agreement.
