Suspended EMPD deputy chief Julius Mkhwanazi allegedly came up with the plan to dispose of murder victim Emmanuel Mbense’s body in a dam, the Brakpan Magistrates’ Court heard on Thursday.
The Brakpan Magistrate's Court has heard that suspended Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) deputy chief Brigadier Julius Mkhwanazi and his co-accused allegedly agreed that anyone who revealed details of the killing of Emmanuel Mbsense would be punished with death.
The chilling details were revealed during the bail application on Thursday.
The matter was postponed last week after legal arguments erupted over the state’s decision to classify the case as a Schedule 6 offence and oppose bail for all six accused.
Mkhwanazi is appearing alongside former EMPD officer Keisha-Leigh Stols, EMPD officer Adrian Mackenzie, South African Police Service officer Bhekokwakhe Sibande, civilian Cobus Janse van Rensburg and Jaun Maree Eksteen, the wife of police informant Wiandre Pretorius.
