Mogul and rap artist Jay-Z, New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, Boston Red Sox owner John Henry and UFC CEO Dana White are part of a consortium taking strategic investment in Tom Brady’s CardVault, the retailer devoted to sports trading cards and other authenticated memorabilia.
Neither the size of the investment consortium nor the valuation of CardVault was disclosed. Among the additional incoming investors are RedBird Capital’s Gerry Cardinale, Silver Lake co-CEOs Egon Durban and Greg Mondre, former Boston Celtics majority owner Wyc Grousbeck, hockey star Connor McDavid and the Kraft Group.
Brady acquired a 50% stake in CardVault in February 2025, when the retailer operated three stores. Since then, the chain has expanded to 17 locations with ambitions to grow to over 100 stores, which the strategic investment is intended to help finance. CardVault sells sports memorabilia and collectibles from Fanatics Authentic, Panini, Topps and Upper Deck. It also deals non-sports trading cards such as Pokémon, and offers services like live unboxing events and authentication.
Revenue at CardVault has risen more than 400% over the last year, according to a person familiar with the matter, and the chain is expected to have roughly 24 stores in operation by the end of the year.
