The wife of police informant Wiandre Pretorius has been added as the sixth accused in the murder case involving the death of Emmanuel Mbense.

The wife of Wiandre Pretorius, a police informant implicated in the Madlanga Commission, has been arrested as the sixth accused in the murder of Emmanuel Mbense.

Wiandre, 41, died by suicide in February. His wife, Jaun Maree Eksteen, was arrested and is appearing in the Brakpan Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

She joins suspended Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) deputy chief Brigadier Julius Mkhwanazi and his four co-accused.

The matter was postponed last week after legal arguments erupted over the state’s decision to classify the case as a Schedule 6 offence and oppose bail for all five accused.
