The local community on the island of Kimolos is in mourning after a 17-year-old boy died of apparent electrocution while bathing at the home where he lived with his mother.
The tragedy occurred Sunday afternoon. The family lives permanently in Ireland and was visiting Kimolos, the mother’s hometown, for summer vacation.
Local media reported initial findings pointing to possible malfunction or electrical leakage from the water heater, though exact causes remain unclear pending forensic and technical investigation.
The house is old, with wiring predating the 1970s, and authorities are examining whether the electrical panel lacked a safety breaker.
