Assistant general manager Shawn Horcoff is currently handling the team’s day-to-day duties, but he does not have the authority to make trades.That means the Red Wings will likely have to wait until a new GM is hired before making progress on Larkin’s trade request. Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press also reported that Detroit has hired a search firm to help find Steve Yzerman’s replacement.Larkin has not changed his mind about wanting a trade. The 30-year-old center has reportedly listed the Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers among his preferred destinations, with the Dallas Stars also believed to have been added. However, his $8.7 million cap hit could make a trade difficult for those teams.Quinn Hughes extension talks continue as Minnesota Wild look for first-line centerThe Minnesota Wild are also dealing with an important contract situation involving Quinn Hughes. Since neither is waiver-exempt, sending them to the AHL could also create another problem for the Blackhawks.
