The Enugu State Police Command has launched an investigation to identify and arrest a yet-to-be-identified driver who allegedly killed two men in a hit-and-run crash at Airport Corner, Emene, in the Enugu East Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred around 10 am on Wednesday when the driver, said to be travelling from Emene towards Enugu city centre, allegedly lost control of his vehicle while negotiating the area at high speed.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident, saying, “A hit-and-run driver killed two people, all male, and ran away. The police have a report of the incident, and investigation is ongoing to track down the driver.”
An eyewitness told our correspondent that one of the victims had stopped his vehicle after it developed a fault and went to a nearby mechanic workshop to obtain tools to repair it.
The witness said the victim was returning the tools after fixing his vehicle when the speeding driver allegedly rammed into him.
