Reverend Oscar Bougardt
A pastor who infamously claimed that gay people belonged in cages and that 99% of paedophiles were homosexual is now advocating for a "queer-free" Cape Town.
Reverend Oscar Bougardt, known for his controversial statements about LGBTQIA+ individuals, recently took to Facebook to call on residents to support his bid for mayor under the banner of the Straight Party in the upcoming local government elections on November 4.
Despite his provocative appeal, Bougardt clarified that he is not an official candidate; rather, he was outlining his vision for the city if he were to hold the office. He insists that his post does not violate the court order that previously silenced him.
He said he did not regard the post as a breach of the court order that gagged him.
