Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL), on Wednesday conducted a mock safety drill to assess the safety and security preparedness of its personnel and the general public at the Udupi railway station.The drill was led by the corporation’s chief security commissioner Abhishek Kumar and involved personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and other departments.It was aimed at detecting and identifying unclaimed items lying on the station premises, particularly in the portico area, parking area, and other vulnerable locations. The areas were thoroughly checked as part of the security preparedness exercise to ensure timely detection of and response to any suspicious or unclaimed articles.Passengers were educated on safety precautions to be followed if any unclaimed or suspicious items are found on the platform. They were advised not to touch, move, or open such items and to immediately inform railway security or police personnel.Passengers were also made aware of the Railway Helpline (139) and Police Emergency Helpline (112) for promptly reporting any unclaimed or suspicious articles.
