New parents Yazeer Losper and Kaylee Luyt brought baby Mahier to meet Officer Zibula Sitemele.

An officer attached to the City of Cape Town’s Law Enforcement Advancement Plan (LEAP), who delivered a baby in Manenberg, was celebrated for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Officer Zibula Sitemele was one of three Law Enforcement officers who were celebrated and acknowledged for their quick thinking in protecting infants.

The mayoral committee member for safety and security, Alderman JP Smith, lauded the officers who went the extra mile and hosted a surprise appreciation for them this week.

According to Smith, on July 27, officers Yonela Sishuba and Sitemele, attached to the LEAP Reaction Unit, came to the rescue of first-time mom, Kaylee Luyt, who had gone into labour in Manenberg.
