MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Raffy Tulfo on Tuesday accused Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano of “holding hostage” the membership of minority senators in his committees and the passage of several priority bills.

Tulfo, chairperson of the Senate committees on public services and migrant workers, said the committees’ work was being hampered by Cayetano’s failure to give his members the go-signal to formally join the committees.

“What disturbs me is that it is the inaction of the Minority Floor Leader to confirm these memberships that holds important [Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council] (LEDAC) bills hostage, such as the Department of Water, crucial franchise bills, and the OFW reintegration bills,” Tulfo said during Tuesday’s Senate session.

“If you have time to go on [Facebook] Live, maybe you have time to confirm or give the go signal to your minority members,” he added.
