MANILA, Philippines — A caliber .38 revolver allegedly sold illegally by two arrested Caloocan City police officers was not traced to other crimes, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

In a press briefing in Camp Crame on Tuesday, PNP public information chief Col. Allen Rae Co said the revolver had undergone a ballistics examination, which yielded negative results.

“It was not yet used in a previous crime. But, of course, doon lang sa mga krimen na recorded natin na may nagpaputok. Hindi natin alam kung ginamit ba ito pantutok or ano. Yun ang ive-verify pa natin,” Co explained.

(It was not yet used in a previous crime. But, of course, it’s only in the crimes we’ve recorded where a gun was shot. We don’t know yet whether this has been used just to intimidate before. We’re verifying that.)
