MANILA, Philippines — Two members of the House prosecution team have backed the Department of Justice (DOJ) decision to file grave threats complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte, brought by her statements about contracting a hitman to kill the President and his relatives.

In separate statements on Tuesday, lead prosecutor and Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro and Mamamayang Liberal party-list Rep. Leila de Lima said it is only right that cases will be filed against Duterte.

“Ang pagsasampa ng DOJ ng kasong grave threat laban kay VP Sara Duterte ay malinaw na pagpapatunay lamang na ‘no one is above the law’,” Luistro said in a statement sent to reporters covering the House.
