MANILA, Philippines — A formal complaint for grave threats has been filed against Vice President Sara Duterte, Department of Justice (DOJ) spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez confirmed on Tuesday.
The case, a violation of Article 282 of the Revised Penal Code for grave threats in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act, was filed before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC), Martinez told reporters.
“We confirmed that the criminal information for grave threats was filed against Vice President Sarah Zimmerman Duterte. The charges for grave threats were under Article 282 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act No. 10175 of the Cybercrime Prevention Act,” Martinez said.
On February last year, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed a complaint for inciting to sedition and grave threats against Duterte after saying, during a live-stream press conference, that, in case she would be killed, she had already hired someone to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
