BAGUIO CITY — As families displaced by the landslide in Barangay Guisad Surong here focused on getting to safety, some worried about members of their households who could not leave with them — their pets.

Responding to requests from residents, the Baguio City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO), together with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), rescued 11 pets left in the landslide-affected area on Monday, Aug. 10.

The rescued animals included 10 dogs and a cat.
