The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Gombe State University branch, has threatened to embark on a total, comprehensive and indefinite strike if its grievances with the Gombe State Government are not addressed within 14 days.
The union disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, following a congress meeting where members received a report from the National Executive Council on its recent visitation to the branch.
According to the union, the NEC had reviewed the outstanding issues between the university’s academic staff and the state government and directed the branch to commence preparations for industrial action if the grievances remained unresolved.
The statement signed by the branch Chairperson, Mustapha Muhammad, and Secretary, Aliyu Shelleng, said the congress resolved to commence the strike after the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum.
