It's part of a larger pivot by Trump, who's arguing that Iran is on the cusp of financially collapsing, but Tehran has hit back.‌Today Trump said the US Navy's blockade is preventing Iran from selling its oil on the international market, effectively choking the Iranian economy. "Yeah, they can make trouble," Trump said, "but they're broke."‌Iranian Parliamentary adviser Majid Skakeri declared: “Trump will not reach an agreement with us. We will accompany him until his term ends.” It is the closest an Iranian establishment figure has come to admitting its strategy of outwitting Trump through patiently controlling the Strait of Hormuz and being ambiguous.Even though he does not represent the state his outburst offers a strong indication of the policy many Iranian nationalists are promoting. He said: “The path to victory is neither fighting nor a deal , it is managing the process of neither war nor peace, up to the point of victory. The winning approach is denial, ambiguity and strategic patience.”‌Shakeri is an adviser to Tehrans’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and the policy means a stalemate for the Strait of Hormuz until January 2029.The remarks represents one influential view within Iran's political establishment rather than a confirmed strategy formally adopted by Tehran.
