The Puducherry unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to distribute 25,000 national flags for hoisting in the houses of residents in the Union Territory.Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, party president V. P. Ramalingam said the BJP workers would take part in the Har Ghar Thiranga programme. “The Central government has issued directions to hoist the national flag in houses ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. The initiative was being taken up to foster nationalistic spirit among the people. We will distribute 25,000 flags to residents,” he said. He also criticised the JMM-Congress government in Jharkhand for using force against students who were protesting in the State on the issue of alleged irregularities in government recruitment examinations.“The students have been on a protest for more than two weeks but the Congress has failed to address the issues raised by the students. This shows the double speak of the Congress on students’ welfare,” he added. Published - August 11, 2026 09:51 pm IST
