Kolkata: West Bengal government will distribute 70 lakh national flags as it participates in “Harghar Tiranga” programme for the first time. The West Bengal government will organize a massive tricolor rally on August 10 at 3 PM, starting from Netaji Statue in Kolkata.“We hope that at least 50,000 people will participate in this program. Already, more than 30,000 people have expressed their interest," West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said. “West Bengal government is inviting people from all levels in large numbers to participate in the "Har Ghar Tiranga" program at the call of the Honorable Prime Minister and the Central Government."Read more: West Bengal STF arrests another suspected associate of Jaish operative Hamim Mondal from HowrahIn Bhabanipur Constituency, from Adhikari won defeating former CM Mamata Banerjee at her home turf, a tricolor journey will be undertaken with several thousand people, tomorrow. The tricolour journey will start from Alipore's Survey Building and culminate in Hazra More. CM will be present at the programme.CM said that the previous government did not participate in the programme, despite it being a national programme.“All 22 districts, Kolkata Municipal Corporation, 7 municipal corporations, 46 sub-divisions, 342 blocks, and 121 municipalities have made arrangements to participate in the event,” he added. All government departments, local self-government institutions, political organisations, youth organisations and common people will participate. Commercial establishments, industrial enterprises, hotels, shopping malls, and commercial institutions are alos expected to participate through flag hoisting and tricolor lighting.Patriotic songs, quiz and speech competitions, awareness rallies, drawing competitions, patriotic and cultural programs are being organised, CM said.

West Bengal will distribute seventy lakh national flags for the Har Ghar Tiranga programme. A massive tricolor rally is planned for August tenth in Kolkata city. Thousands are expected to join the rally, which starts from Netaji Statue. Various government departments and organisations will also participate in the event. Numerous awareness programs and competitions are being organized across the state.
